Back to BlogTandem Paragliding in Georgia: The Complete Guide
All five tandem paragliding sites in Georgia: prices from ₾250, launches to 3,150 m, how booking works, and what to expect on the day.
A tandem flight in Georgia costs from ₾250–350 (~$95–130 / €80–115) at the most accessible sites, and you need no experience at all — the certified pilot flies the wing, you take in the view. We fly five sites across the country, year-round when the weather allows: Gudauri, Mestia, Ananuri, Tbilisi and Rustavi. Here is what each one costs and how high you launch, how booking and payment actually work with us, and who can come along.
The Five Flight Sites at a Glance
Georgia packs a lot into a small map: high-alpine launches at 3,000 m and above in the Greater Caucasus, a flight over a historic fortress and a reservoir, and two easy sites within reach of the capital. Every flight on our platform goes out with a verified, certified tandem pilot, and each site has its own page on our locations page if you want the full detail.
| Site | Launch altitude | Tandem price | Character |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gudauri | 3,000 m | ₾350–450 (~$130–170 / €115–145) | Greater Caucasus panorama; our flagship site |
| Mestia (Svaneti) | 3,150 m | ₾450–550 (~$165–200 / €145–175) | High-mountain flying with views toward Ushba and Tetnuldi |
| Ananuri | 1,350 m | ₾450–550 (~$170–210 / €145–175) | Flights over the Ananuri fortress and Zhinvali reservoir area |
| Tbilisi | 750 m | ₾250–350 (~$95–130 / €80–115) | City-adjacent flying, minimal travel time |
| Rustavi | 750 m | ₾250–350 (~$95–130 / €80–115) | Near Tbilisi; an easy, affordable first flight |
Prices are per person — the range at each site covers the different flight types on offer. Most sites offer photo and video (GoPro footage, for example), but the exact packages differ from place to place, so ask what is available when you book.
How to Choose Your Site
Want the big mountains? Gudauri is our flagship — you launch from 3,000 m into a full Greater Caucasus panorama. Mestia in Svaneti goes higher still: 3,150 m, the highest launch on the platform, with high-mountain flying near views of Ushba and Tetnuldi. If alpine scenery is the whole point of your trip, pick one of these two and don't overthink it.
Short on time? Tbilisi and Rustavi both launch from 750 m, carry the lowest prices, and fit comfortably into half a day. They are also a sensible way to find out whether you like flying before committing to a mountain trip.
Something different: Ananuri launches from 1,350 m and takes you over the Ananuri fortress and the Zhinvali reservoir area. No other site on the platform puts architecture and open water under your feet at the same time.
How Booking Works on XParagliding.com
We are both a certified tandem operator and a booking platform, and we have kept the process short on purpose:
- Send a request online. Pick your site, flight type and date on the website. It takes a few minutes, and the site works in six languages.
- We confirm. Your request is confirmed and the details are agreed before you travel.
- Pay on the day. No online or card prepayment — you pay on-site, in cash or as agreed with your provider.
Every pilot and company on the platform is verified before they can take a single booking. Reviews follow the same rule: only customers whose flight actually went ahead can leave one, so the ratings you read reflect real flights, not marketing.
What Is Included in Your Flight
Everything except your clothes and shoes, essentially. The flight comes with a certified pilot and all the equipment; you just turn up dressed sensibly. Our instructors and pilots are trained to international standards, including the APPI framework, and the launch decision always belongs to the pilot — never to a schedule. There is more on how we approach risk on our safety page. Want footage to take home? Ask about photo and video packages when you book, since offerings vary by site.
When to Fly: Year-Round, Weather Permitting
All five sites fly year-round — Georgia has no closed season. The honest caveat (the one every operator worth booking with will give you): paragliding is weather-dependent, and your pilot assesses conditions on the day, not the week before. Mornings are often calmer, which is worth remembering when you pick a time slot. There is no guaranteed "perfect month," and anyone promising one is selling rather than flying. If conditions are not safe, we don't fly. Simple as that.
Who Can Fly
Healthy adults, with no preparation whatsoever — the ground briefing covers everything, and your pilot handles the entire flight. At sites where it is offered, children can fly accompanied by a guardian; the exact age and weight limits depend on the site and conditions, so we confirm them at booking. And if one tandem flight turns into a lasting itch (it happens), X-Academy runs theory and practical training from the P1 beginner stage upward, plus first-aid and reserve-repacking courses.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does tandem paragliding cost in Georgia?
Between ₾250 and ₾550 per person, depending on the site and flight type. Tbilisi and Rustavi are the most affordable at ₾250–350 (~$95–130 / €80–115), Gudauri runs ₾350–450, and Mestia and Ananuri sit at ₾450–550. Photo and video packages are priced separately.
Do I need any experience?
No. On a tandem, the certified pilot controls the wing for the entire flight; your part is a few running steps at launch and enjoying the view afterwards. A short ground briefing before takeoff covers the rest.
How do I book a flight?
Send a request online — site, flight type, date — and wait for confirmation. Nothing is paid online; it is a request-and-confirm process, and all details are settled before your flight day.
Can I pay by card on site?
Payment always happens on-site, and cash is the standard method. Whether other payment methods work depends on the provider, so agree on it when your booking is confirmed. There is no online prepayment at any point.
What happens if the weather cancels my flight?
Your pilot makes the call on the day, and safety wins every time. If the flight cannot go ahead, rescheduling is decided together with the operator — building a spare half-day into your plans is a good idea, especially for the mountain sites.
When you're ready, send us a flight request online — pick a site, a flight type and a date, get confirmation, pay on the day. Rather talk it through with a person first? Call us on +995 511 440 400 or write to info@xparagliding.com.
