Why Rustavi?
Rustavi is just a 30-minute drive from Tbilisi — making it one of the most accessible paragliding locations in all of Georgia. The launch site sits near the Rustavi Cross area, north of the city, at 750 meters altitude above the wide-open plains of Kvemo Kartli. No mountain roads, no hours in the car. You leave Tbilisi after breakfast and you are airborne before lunch.
Rustavi is a strong choice for anyone living in or visiting Tbilisi who wants a paragliding experience that is fast, easy to reach, and affordably priced. From arrival at the launch point to landing back on the ground takes under 30 minutes, and you are back in the capital with most of your day still ahead of you.
What You'll See
From the sky above Rustavi, the Kvemo Kartli plain stretches out in every direction — a patchwork of yellow and green fields extending unbroken to the horizon. The Mtkvari River valley cuts deep through the landscape, its banks lined with villages and farmland in alternating strips. On the city side, the outline of Rustavi — residential blocks, factory towers — creates an industrial backdrop that gives this site a distinctive photographic contrast you will not find elsewhere in Georgia.
On clear days, the first ridgeline of the Greater Caucasus appears to the northwest — a faint silhouette of peaks hinting at the high mountains beyond. This mix of flat agricultural land and distant mountain scenery is unique to Rustavi: the calm of the plains and the grandeur of far-off peaks share a single frame.
Best Time to Fly
Rustavi operates year-round, as the flat terrain provides stable flying conditions throughout the seasons.
- Spring (March–May) — Warm, calm weather and green fields. Ideal for a first flight.
- Summer (June–August) — Long days and thermal currents. Morning and evening slots are the most comfortable.
- Autumn (September–November) — Clear air, steady winds, and golden tones across the fields.
- Winter (December–February) — Cool air and fewer visitors. Flying is possible when weather permits.
Safety
Every tandem flight at Rustavi is led by a certified pilot who knows the Kvemo Kartli terrain and wind patterns thoroughly. We operate under strict safety protocols.
- Certified tandem pilots with full knowledge of Rustavi flying conditions
- EN-certified paragliders — inspected before every single flight
